I took this photo while I was playing around with my new Tamron macro lens for the D800 and found it to be a pretty good example of the typical pitfalls associated with macro photography. Pictured here is a small portion of a standard sized serviette under normal evening sunlight. The area in focus is probably around 1 cm from the edge and you can see that even at f4.8 the depth of field is paper-thin (groan). Under normal conditions this means that even small insects will only partially be in focus. More light is definitely key and I will have to spend some time working on an external flash set up. Isn’t the pattern of the serviette mesmerising, though?
Ich habe dieses Foto gemacht, als ich mit meinem neuen Tamron Makro Objektiv für die D800 herum gespielt habe und ich habe es als ein gutes Beispiel von den Stolperfallen der Makrofotografie gefunden. Hier abgebildet ist ein kleiner Teil einer ganz normalen Serviette unter natürlichem Abendlicht. Der Bereich im Fokus ist vielleicht 1 cm vom Rand und du kannst sehen, dass auch mit f4,8 die Schärfentiefe immer noch papierdünn ist. Das heißt, dass unter normalen Bedingungen auch kleine Insekten nur teils im Fokus sein würden. Mehr Licht wäre definitiv der Schlüssel hier und ich muss Zeit an einer externen Blitzlösung verbringen. Das Muster der Serviette ist doch faszinierend, oder?
